Where indicated by “NN.”, use either one’s own name or the name of someone in particular to be addressed as contextually appropriate. Where indicated by “NN1.” and “NN2.”, use the names of someone in particular to be addressed and oneself as contextually appropriate.
7.5.1. Leaving a Group⁑
Whenever possible, it is best for a member who leaves a group (L) of their own volition to announce it to the group as a whole (A). If this cannot be done, the secretary of the group (G) should announce it for them.
7.5.1.1. Leave Announced by Oneself⁑
L: In the company of you all of this hetaireia who are my witnesses, I, NN1., declare that I leave this hetaireia of the Hermetic Synaxis on this <date> to continue on my Way. May you live in wholeness and health, and may you walk in reverence and knowledge on the Way of Hermēs!A: May you live in wholeness and health, and may you walk in reverence and knowledge on the Way of Hermēs!
7.5.1.2. Leave Announced While Absent⁑
If the announcement is being made on a date after the member informs the secretary that they have left, they should say “on <date>” rather than “on this <date>”.
G: In the company of you all of our hetaireia who are my witnesses, in my office as grammateus of our hetaireia of the Hermetic Synaxis, I, NN2., declare that NN1. has left our hetaireia on (this) <date> to continue on their Way.A: May they live in wholeness and health, and may they walk in reverence and knowledge on the Way of Hermēs!
7.5.1.3. Letter for a Member who has Left⁑
Dear NN1.,May you live in wholeness and health!In my office as grammateus of our hetaireia of the Hermetic Synaxis, I am informing you that as of <date> you have left our hetaireia.We wish you the best in your Way.In reverence and knowledge,NN2.
7.5.2. Dissolution of a Group⁑
All members of a group are to declare the group dissolved as one (A).
A: In the company of each other and as witnesses for each other, we declare that we all leave this hetaireia of the Hermetic Synaxis on this <date> to continue on our Way. In so doing, we leave this hetaireia without hetaireiōtai, and in so doing, we dissolve this hetaireia of the Hermetic Synaxis, which was formed on <founding date> by <founders>. May we live in wholeness and health, and may we walk in reverence and knowledge on the Way of Hermēs!
As part of the dissolution, the secretary is to send a letter to each member of the group notifying them of such, along with a copy of all notifications, forum recordings, and other records:
Dear NN1.,May we live in wholeness and health!In the last duty of my office as grammateus of our hetaireia of the Hermetic Synaxis, I am informing you that as of <date> we along with our fellow hetaireiōtai have dissolved our hetaireia.For your reference, please find attached a copy of all relevant records from the working of our hetaireia.May we all have the best in our Ways.In reverence and knowledge,NN2.
7.5.3. Expulsion from a Group⁑
When someone is expelled from a group, the group is to declare it as a whole (A). The expulsion may occur with the expelled member present or absent.
7.5.3.1. Expulsion Announced in the Presence of the Expelled Member⁑
A: In the company of each other and as witnesses for each other, we declare that we expel you, NN1., from our hetaireia of the Hermetic Synaxis for <reasons of expulsion> on this <date>, and so declare you no longer a hetaireiōtēs of our hetaireia or of any other. We denounce and condemn you, NN1., for your actions that cast down truth and order. Begone.
7.5.3.2. Expulsion Announced While Absent⁑
A: In the company of each other and as witnesses for each other, we declare that we expel NN1. from our hetaireia of the Hermetic Synaxis for <reasons of expulsion> on this <date>, and so declare them no longer a hetaireiōtēs of our hetaireia or of any other. We denounce and condemn NN1. for their actions that cast down truth and order; as they have left us, so too do we leave them.
7.5.3.3. Expulsion Letter⁑
Regardless whether an expulsion was announced in the presence of the expelled member or not, the secretary is to inform the expelled member of their expulsion.
7.5.3.3.1. For a First and Non-Automatic Expulsion⁑
Dear NN1.,May you live in wholeness and health!In my office as grammateus of our hetaireia of the Hermetic Synaxis, I am informing you that as of <date> you have been expelled from our hetaireia for <reasons of expulsion>. For your actions that cast down truth and order, we must denounce and condemn you.Despite this, depending on the circumstances of your expulsion and any corrective measures you take because of it, you may appeal to our hetaireia to have your expulsion rescinded no earlier than one year from the date of your expulsion.We wish you the best in your Way.In reverence and knowledge,NN2.
7.5.3.3.2. For a Second or Automatic Expulsion⁑
Dear NN1.,May you live in wholeness and health!In my office as grammateus of our hetaireia of the Hermetic Synaxis, I am informing you that as of <date> you have been expelled from our hetaireia for <reasons of expulsion>. For your actions that cast down truth and order, we must denounce and condemn you.This expulsion is permanent and applies to all hetaireiai of the Hermetic Synaxis.We wish you the best in your Way.In reverence and knowledge,NN2.
7.5.4. Rescission of Expulsion⁑
When someone (R) has their expulsion from a group rescinded, the group is to declare it as a whole (A) in their presence.
A: In the company of each other and as witnesses for each other, we declare that we rescind your expulsion, NN1., from our hetaireia of the Hermetic Synaxis on this <date>, and so welcome you back as a corrected hetaireiōtēs of our hetaireia.R: According to the will and assent of this hetaireia of the Hermetic Synaxis and in the company of you all who are my witnesses, I, NN1., regret and apologize to this hetaireia for all my previous actions that cast down truth and order. In my being welcomed once more into this hetaireia, I will hold myself to our Arkhai, the bedrock of our practice and the guideposts of our journey, as others hold me to them; I will hold myself to our Entolai for hetaireiōtai, rules of conduct which support our work in our hetaireia, as others hold me to them; I will hold myself to our Entolai for the hetaireia, rules of conduct which support our work in the Hermetic Synaxis, as others hold me to them. 7.5.5. Letter for Denial of Rescission of Expulsion⁑
If an expelled member appeals to have their expulsion rescinded and their group denies it, the secretary is to inform the expelled member of the denial of rescission:
Dear NN1.,May you live in wholeness and health!In my office as grammateus of our hetaireia of the Hermetic Synaxis, I am informing you that we have deliberated your appeal for the expulsion from our hetaireia on <date> for <reasons of expulsion>. After our deliberation, objections were raised in our hetaireia to rescinding your expulsion, and so we must deny your appeal.However, if, even after our review and denial of your appeal, you sincerely believe that your expulsion was made for truly unreasonable causes or was not performed in good faith, you may petition another hetaireia to investigate and review your expulsion so that you might be admitted to their hetaireia; should you choose to do so, we will expect to be contacted by such a hetaireia so that we might provide what information we can.We wish you the best in your Way.In reverence and knowledge,NN2.
7.5.6. Letters to Other Groups⁑
For the following, the secretary/treasurer/representative of one group is to send a letter to another group. The letter to the other group is ideally addressed by name to the secretary/treasurer/representative of the other group, and if not by name then to the office of the group itself (”grammateus/tamias/presbeutēs of the hetaireia [<name>] of <location>”).
7.5.6.1. That a New Group has been Founded⁑
If the group has a name of its own, the part in square brackets ([…]) is also to be stated along with the name.

7.5.6.2. To Ask About the History of a Past Member⁑
If a petitioner seeks to join one’s group after being part of another group, the group may reach out to the former group to ask about their history, standing, factors of them leaving the group, and the like.
